This designation is offered by the Society of Certified Senior Advisors. The candidate must complete an initial profile and questionnaire, pass a background check, pass an examination based on the CSA Code of Professional Responsibility, and sign the code. Then, the candidate must fulfill the education and work experience requirements in one of the following three ways:
- complete the CSA coursework and also have either one year of paid work experience with seniors, or fifty volunteer hours in the previous three years
- have two years of paid work experience with seniors, or 100 volunteer hours in the previous three years, or
- have a college degree in a field of study related to working with seniors.
Then, the candidate must pass the CSA examination. To maintain the CSA designation, 18 credits of continuing education must be completed every three years.
