Security Capital Industrial Trust: This is a Real Estate Investment Trust that specializes in Industrial properties, It was traded on the New York Stock Exchange as SCN until 1998 when it was then renamed ProLogis and was traded as PLD. This company was founded in Colorado in 1991 but it did not go public until 1994. As of 2005 the company had 54.7 million square feet of industrial space, but that was just the beginning of this companies march to the largest industrial REIT in the USA today.

In 2005 the company offered 10,854,466 shares in the company at $15.8 per market share to pay off some unsecured debts that the company had at the time, totalling $350 million, a great way to acquire liquid cash for new investments and properties.

American Real Estate Investment Corp was renamed ProLogis in 1998 the new name was to mark a new chapter in the company’s growth. Today the company is known only as ProLogis and has grown in a huge way, in 2002 its annual revenue was $679 million with owned or managed assets of over $10 billion dollars. And in 2001 ProLogis entered the Japanese market.

ProLogis (Security Capital Industrial Trust) has expanded globally and has over 4200 employees, One of the biggest acquisitions that ProLogis had made was Meridian Industrial Trust, this company had major acquisitions and properties that was worth $1.47 billion dollars, ProLogis also bought a refrigerator warehouse business in the UK for $122.3 million dollars. These where some of the companies first major accusations, now the company makes these kinds of acquisitions on a monthly basis.

ProLogis is now a multibillion dollar company, with global clients all over the world. ProLogis now has 475 million square feet of distribution facilities, ProLogis is an Environmental leader when it comes to sustainability, they install high efficacy products in all of their properties as well as employ accredited green specialist to enhance the energy efficacy of every building.
